It makes sense that Amy Roiland is our people she is “a Fashion Nerd” and we are “Fashionably Nerdy“. Our paths cross every now and then for the last decade at events but the fact is we both met at a Myspace filming (myspace was Facebook before Facebook….) we were both cast in to rebrand the company after Justin Timberlake bought it – while myspace never made it’s triumphant return – we made life long friends. We were just tickled pink to recently chat with Amy about her style and her new leap into motherhood.
We asked Amy how she defines her own personal style and she said
“Retro with a splash of modern flair. I love anything vintage and mixing and matching items. I especially love accessories most. I believe a good hat or sunglasses can make or break a look.“
FN: Who is your real or fictional style icon and why?
AR: That would have be Olive Abercrombie an 8 year old style icon, my style icon! Especially when she was younger, so retro so 60s, Wes Anderson vibes.
FN: Does your Instagram have a specific brand, theme or color-scheme? If so does that effect what you wear or how you post?
AR: I love to shoot in front of murals or art installations most. I never really plan my shoots. I plan my outfits first and then I drive around and shoot. Some times magic will happen where I match the wall. I am too ADD to plan out shoots. HAH
FN: How has being pregnant changed your fashion?
AR: Not really but it’s definitely harder to style outfits because nothing fits like it used to. Wearing loose fitting clothing is also difficult for me, i love more form fitting clothes for sure. I also love mini skirts and mini dresses but lately I have been more into the maxi look during pregnancy.
FN: What have your favorite maternity styles been?
AR: Knit dresses, form fitting and longer for sure. I can add a top over the dress and add some cute booties and a hat and sunnies and feel amazing! Tank knit maxi dresses are the best ever. I just love styling around them and add to them to make a fun look.
FN: How do you think you will dress your baby? What sort of styles are you drawn to for kids clothes?
AR: At first she will be dressed more bland, I want her to be comfy. But once shes a little older I will go wild. I want her to dress like a 1960s kid for sure. I already have big sunglasses for her to wear and collared dresses, tops, overall skirts, etc. I want her to wear cute socks with fun shoes. I have a lot of ideas for her. I am SO excited! I already bought her a killer Vivetta face dress and skirt. HAHA.
FN: Do you think that becoming a mom will effect how you post on Instagram/your blog? What do you think will change?
AR: No I don’t. If anything I will probably post more and shoot more. I can bring Ryder with me and incorporate her into my shoots. I will plan to take a small break when she arrives. I need to heal and focus on her for a while.

FN: Who is the most stylish comic book superhero or villain?
AR: I am torn on this one..
FN: Is there a fandom that you think people would be surprised you love?
AR: Catfish, the TV show. I am beyond obsessed with this show.. I watch like 3-5 episodes a day. Funny thing is I know Nev but I never watched his show till now. HAHA.
FN: What trends do you think defined fashion in 2019 – any breakthrough designers?
AR: This is a hard question because i feel like the fashion in 2019 was all over the place. I feel like trends are really slowing down lately. People seem to be more obsessed with makeup and hair. Break through designer would have to be Blaire Eadie Atlantic Pacific for Nordstrom. She is a genius and all her designs are incredible.
FN: How has your style changed over the past decade?
AR: I feel like my style is more cohesive and more fun. It has definitely evolved.
FN: What are your favorite brands that fit your esthetic these days?

FN: What’s your favorite piece right now in your closet – where did you get it? Was it expensive or reasonably priced?
AR: My chanel 5018 sunglasses, always and forever. They were originally $450 and I paid $2000 for them. Theyre worth maybe $10,000 now. Very rare. Karl Lagerfield designed them and only 500 were made. My babies!
FN: If you want to invest in something really unique that might be a little more expensive but a key piece you’ll get a lot of wear from – what would you suggest?

AR: Yup, my line is @amroidesigns , I have a handbag line launching soon with Studio 33 at the end of Jan. I also did eyewear designs for Betty and Veronica. I have a shoe line but I may move it over to a brand to collab with. Doing your own line is way too much work. I have a line of vegan handmade camera/bag straps for sale on my site.

AR: Aforragersfeast / Heather for sure! Such a killer account
