Geek Chic Babies: Building a Nerdy Nursery: Art: An Odd Store

We’ve been discussing in this series of articles “Geek Chic Babies: Building a Nerdy Nursery” the challenge of building a nursery space for our tiny human in a one bedroom apartment. This little space explorer is due on March 1st, 2017 and will be our 1st child… and have decided to not learn the sex of our child until they arrive – but we have gone with a SPACE theme for the nursery because we love SPACE!

As part of this theme we have commissioned some of our favorite artists to create custom illustrations of members of our family as space explorers. These artists have been given reference photos and asked to create in their own unique style.

Artist Sergio lives in Montevideo, Uruguay and can be found on Etsy as An Odd Store. He makes custom portraits in all different cartoon styles including Simpsons, Chibi, Zombie, etc… For this portrait of my love, Russ we chose the Yellow Submarine style… we love The Beatles and thought that this style would be a wonderful contrast to the other artists we had commissioned.

In case you forget what my partner in crime and the daddy to be looks like here are some pretty awesome pictures (I took all of these and I am head over heels in love so I maybe a little biased)

This was the first portrait we got back in this series and we were blown away with how great it is! It totally captures Russ and is just so super cool! It might look a little like he is under the sea because of the Yellow Submarine but I think the Yellow Submarine can travel to outer space… why not?!!!
