Early in July, Tee Fury launched a brand new line of super nerdy and super geek chic leggings, deigned to appeal to a wide range of fans and their unique fandoms. We were so excited to share the designs when the line launched, and followed up with a sneak peak at their line of nerdy skirts as well.
In the meantime, Tee Fury also sent us a few pairs of leggings to try ourselves and I spent most of August and September rocking these designs as much as possible. I wore them in many different settings and situations, I am now so anxious to share my thoughts on the product with you.
I received the two pairs in the mail just a few days before Tampa Comic-Con, which worked out perfectly since I could wear one pair on Friday and one pair to our panel on Saturday. I had planned to wear them all over the convention center, and to even test drive them in in harsh Florida sunshine and heat. Things didn’t exactly go as planned in that area.
It rained…it rained a lot. As a matter of fact, as a result of the rain we received in the Bay Area over that weekend, I had to miss a day of work, people lost their vehicles, roads were destroyed. Unbelievably, this was just rain. No hurricane or tropical storm could be blamed for this completely unseasonable mess of massive amounts of water.
Because of all the rain, I was only able to flaunt the looks inside the convention center, and wasn’t happy with the photos I had. I decided to wear them as much as possible over the month, and come back with a ton of fun photos and an in depth review.
Full disclosure – When I was contacted to review the line, I wasn’t sure if Tee Fury wanted me to select a pair of leggings to review or a skirt, so when they asked me what design I would like, I was a bit confused on what to pick. My favorite design was the Who’s Cute, but that was only available as leggings. I told them if I would be receiving the leggings to review, that I opted for that design. Since there was no Who’s Cute skirt, I selected my second favorite design, the Accio Emojis as my skirt option. I didn’t know until the day they arrived what had been sent.
They sent both designs as leggings!
I feel like I ALWAYS need to break out of my jeans and tee shirt routine. No matter how far I have come in learning about fashion since we launched this site, I am constantly going back to my simple nerd girl roots. I was really excited to have multiple pairs of leggings now, because it was a new way to still be a comfortable nerd, while feeling a bit more put together.
For day one of the con, I wore the Accio Emojis design, paired with a purple tunic top, black boots, and some of my favorite Harry Potter jewlery. I also wore a little flowery headband. I’m not sure yet if I can make that look work as well as Meli does, but I was trying something.
For Day two and our panel, I wore the Who’s Cute, with a new long blue tank I purchased at H&M specifically for the leggings. This time, I wore brown boots, Doctor Who jewlery and my Exploding TARDIS hair bow from 1138 Clothing.
When I first opened the package, I was immediately impressed with the quality of the clothing. Both pairs felt sturdy, but not so thick as to be uncomfortable. I tried on both pairs, and though the Who’s Cute seemed flawless, I had thought that the Accio Emojis seemed a little see through.
Don’t worry, they aren’t. The leggings, while seeming to be a very dark black on screen, actually have a really cool fading effect in places that reminds me a bit of the night sky. Those patches are lighter in color, which is why I had thought they might be a little translucent.
Not only are both pairs well made, but they are also extremely comfortable. So comfortable in fact, that when my husband and I went away for our anniversary last month, and I forgot to pack pajamas, I was able to wear my leggings to bed.
They helped keep me warm in the frigid hotel.
Not only did they keep me warm when I was cold, they also kept me cool when I was hot!
My friend Tina and I visited Universal Orlando and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter a couple of weeks ago.
She had never seen the new Diagon Alley expansion and I was itching to wear my new Tee Fury leggings again.
It was a super hot day at the park, but I felt great in the leggings. They never felt hot, and I didn’t sweat at all. My dark top definitely felt the heat, but otherwise, I was great! I also got a TON of compliments on the leggings and quite a few people stopped me to ask me where they could snag their own pair. I think this was my most favorite Wizarding World of Harry Potter outfit to date (Top by the always wonderful, Jordan Dené).
I really cannot say enough good things about these leggings. I think they have officially become a huge part of my geeky style. I love their comfort, design, and flexibility. I can easily dress these up for a night out with some heels and accessories; but they are also awesome for just lounging around.
The price is my favorite thing. I normally cannot afford nerdy leggings. While I know that the price is always a reflection of the quality, that doesn’t make it any easier for me to spend $100 plus dollars on a single pair. I just don’t make enough money. Priced at $39.00 a pair, I can easily see myself becoming obsessed with these leggings. I think I spot a new fashion addiction.
I’m also still very excited to try the skirts.
I mentioned this in a previous post, but the biggest thing to watch for is the sizing. I really do feel that they run small. I never wear a large in anything, but I do in these. The site offers a handy sizing chart and it is very accurate, so make sure you follow that when placing your order.
YOu should also head back over to their site as well, to check out the new designs they have released since we first introduced them. I love all the new styles.
Disclosure; We were provided with two free pairs of leggings by Tee Fury in exchange for this blog post. However, all opinions are always our own.
